Lapin (1981) is a French artist living in Barcelona. He defines himself as a “wandering illustrator,” recording his life through drawings: over the past 20 years, he has filled more than 220 sketchbooks. He has been part of the Urban Sketchers community since its inception and was named an official painter for the French army in 2019.
He often draws in vintage books he finds at flea markets, particularly attracted to old accounting ledgers. These books, with their red and blue lines, remind him of the first sketches and observations made by 18th-century scientists who set out to explore unknown lands, like Cook or La Pérouse. His dream is to become one of those explorers.
He travels light, needing little more than a notebook, a fine pencil, watercolor, and his foldable stool.
The street is his studio.
He has published 48 books about Barcelona, Paris, Japan, Cuba (…) and for museums worldwide, including Arts et Métiers, Le Bourget, Qatar Museum, and many others.
