A course of civic action
The term “Yourb” is the contraction of young, you, and urban, three words that help to understand the objectives of the initiative that invites the new generations to look at their city from an original point of view in order to immagine new scenarios for the future. Community, territory and technology are the themes that revolve around the project.
The project was carried out in the 2020-2021 school year and involved 5 classes from three institutes: the Aldo Passoni Art High School, the IPS Bodoni-Paravia and the IPS Albe Steiner. With them a course of reflection was developed, guided by the multidisciplinary staff of the Print Club and enriched by comparison with some representatives from the world of local associations and of communication with the aim of stimulating the ability to critically observe the surrounding environment, through an active attitude. The reasoning produced during the training path was translated into a creative output: a poster created in the Print Club laboratory.
From 10 to 12 September 2021 the project was presented to the public in the Creativity Hub of Torino Creativa: an exhibition was created and a more extensive consideration was developed on the themes at the centre of the journey through informal meetings with some cultural entities in the area: Bike Pride, FROM – the strategic and creative agency that carries out city making projects, Strabarriere – an independent online space, created with a purely informative intent with regard to the suburbs of Turin, and Milan Mediterranea, a participatory art centre in the Giambellino neighbourhood.
Starting from this experience, the activities and procedures have been refined and a toolkit has been created: a description of the methodology and implementation phases of the project to promote the replicability of the initiative with other schools and in other contexts and to broaden the social and cultural impact of the initiative.
