Corrente. The fanzine that doesn’t stand still

Corrente printclubtorino

The fanzine that faces contemporaneity

Corrente was born from the collaboration of Print Club Torino and Graphic Days® with Turin’s civic libraries, on the occasion of the reopening of the Alberto Geisser library inside the Michelotti Park. The fanzine draws inspiration from the cultural heritage of magazines and publications that can be consulted in the libraries and through the web portal to address current issues, from cyberbullying to fake news, from multiculturalism to policies for public space, to name just the main arguments.

Corrente is printed in Risograph in two colors in 1000 copies and is bound by hand at the Print Club. It is distributed free in all of Turin’s civic libraries.
Why Corrente?

Like the current of the river in front of the Geisser library, the fanzine doesn’t stand still, but touches various arguments, with a plural approach, open to contamination and to the many currents of thought. It allows you to stay up to date on the most burning issues and sometimes, like the electric current, it gives a little jolt to remember that certain issues can no longer be put off, even if this means going against the current.

Read the fanzine
The editorial staff

Corrente is produced together with the Young Board of Graphic Days®, a group of students passionate about visual and social design, who support the Graphic Days® team in identifying the issues at the centre of public debate and in providing a reasoned selection of thematic articles. The 16 pages of the fanzine offer a key to further insights; the theme of each issue is addressed through a selection of articles taken from the magazines and volumes in the library collections of Turin and from other digital sources; these are presented in Corrente in the form of short extracts and links to allow the content to be read in full. In addition, contributions from external experts offer ideas for further reading.

Workshops with schools

An insert of the fanzine is created together with the high schools with which laboratory activities are curated, aimed at promoting the in-depth study of a current topic and raising awareness on the use of the city’s libraries and services. Specifically, the students carry out an activity of research for content and, simulating the work of a real editorial team, select the topics and write the texts to be published.

Extra fanzine activities

The theme of each issue of the fanzine is the opportunity to plan a series of events in the Geisser Library. Exhibitions, workshops for children, conferences and artistic performances take their inspiration from the fanzine and permit the arguments to be extended to different audiences, involving the different realities of the territory.
