PICA

PICA is an artistic project born in 2013. It is the result of the collaboration between Carlos Lalvay Estrada, artist, and Pietro Repetto, technician of ancient photographic printing. The project is configured as the recovery of one of the most ancient photographic printing techniques in a new and almost unexplored way.

From 2017 Michele Ruvioli joined the original duo of Pietro and Carlos. Michele is a videomaker active in cinema and audiovisual communication. Thus was born the Laboratorino, an atelier and new headquarter of PICA in Genoa. The space houses a new darkroom and an archive of prints, negatives and Carlos’ original drawings. It also hosts antique printing workshops and artist residences.
